Gwin Students Honor Veterans at Annual Celebration

Gwin Elementary students will host a Veterans Day Program to honor veterans and armed service personnel on Thursday, November 10, 2016, beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the school’s gymnasium.

Students are encouraged to invite family members, friends, and neighbors, who have served in the armed forces or are currently enlisted, to attend the commemorative ceremony. The school’s fourth and fifth grade choir, Gwin Ovation, will sing each armed forces song as the honorees stand to be recognized.

This event is a time for the students to recognize and show gratitude to the men and women who have served or are currently serving our country. Gwin Elementary School has hosted the program for several years, and it has become a special tradition for the students as well as the honorees. There will be a reception of recognition and thanks following the program for all students who have brought guests as well as the veterans and armed service personnel in attendance.

The mission of Gwin Elementary is to establish a strong foundation for lifelong learning for all students by providing opportunities for academic, social, physical, and emotional growth in a child-centered environment. The school uses a variety of research-based strategies to ensure that each student reaches his/her maximum potential.
